We have been slowly chipping away at the girls’ bedroom renovation, and we are almost finished! This is a bedroom that is much smaller than their old one, but it felt easier to simplify and narrow down the layout!

If you are installing wallpaper, I highly recommend using a thicker quality paper. It will make it much easier to install. I prefer standard over removable, and even if it is pre-pasted I use wallpaper glue. (All of the supplies we use to install.) I went with the Olof pattern in by Sandberg because I knew the neutral colors and timeless pattern would be a great base for any design changes we make down the road as the girls grow up! This particular design came as a double roll, and the pattern was easy to align. Wallpaper is always an investment of time and funds, but I think it can make such a big impact on the outcome and feel of a room. For crown molding, we wanted to use a historic inspired style. You can now find so many fantastic options that are a flexible pvc material on More Than Moldings. The flexible material allows you to work with uneven walls (a classic old home feature), and gives you more flexibility to install evenly.

The bookcases and closets had a very cheap trim around them that was basically thin foam. Since it was cracked and already falling off we went ahead and replaced it with a wooden fluted trim and rosettes, and pinths we found at our local supply store. You can find this at most hardware stores! Gabe always prefers to prime and paint them first before installing using a spray gun. He then installs using a nail gun, caulk, and nail filler followed by any paint touch ups needed.

The fun part for me is always the final details. I put all of their books back into the shelves which is a wide range of types since their ages span from 4 yrs -13 yrs right now. Veronica our oldest will be moving into her own room this fall, but I still wanted to include her books for now! She loves any sort of art project, and she painted these sister bunny bookends as part of the shelves. I love the puffin classic x rifle paper co. book designs and thehe covers alone work as beautiful art decor!

We have a few more DIY projects and details to finish up in here, but I am looking forward to sharing the outcome of this room! It has been really fun to see the girls’ reactions to every step of the transformation. Feels like a special place already that I kind of want to move into and crash their sister sleepovers;)
