says:This is a great tutorial! Does it matter what color Hemnes you get if you are painting over it? We might be getting a black one on Craigslist and I’m curious if it will be a hassle and we should just buy one in a more neutral color from IKEA.

says:I Isabel, I am sorry this is getting to you so late. I wouldn’t worry if the color is black because I would highly recommend you apply a layer of quality primer to the dresser before painting it the finished color. Because you will be using a primer, the original paint color will not matter much.
