Well, I decided to go for it. It felt like a big risk, but I it paid off! The mural arrived as a thick canvas texture wallpaper, and it was installed this week. Even though we are far from completing this room, I wanted to share the outcome so far! I also rounded up places of where to find scenic wallpaper murals.

Since this is a home we hope to be in forever, I really want to take time bigger decisions for each room. I thought about this dining room the past year with so many family meals in here. I always start with trying to envision what I want the space to feel like for the people who use it most (and that is our whole family in this scenario). Wallpaper is a big investment/expense, and I didn’t want to settle for something that would feel dated in 5-10 years. An antique painting is already pretty dated (lol), but to me it is timeless and reflects the era of the home best when painted murals were more common. I knew it would be something my children would love, as it is full of spots to add in more characters down the road;)

After searching high and low for a scenic painting mural, I landed on this scenic wallpaper mural from etsy. There are a few different sellers, but I found this shop extremely responsive and helpful in drawing up mock ups and quotes before purchasing. She created a mirrored mural so the same image would repeat around the room. There is also a peel and stick option if you are in a rental or prefer to make a less permanent choice! This would be beautiful on just one wall too.

I was very lucky to find a local team of two women who have years of experience installing wallpaper. I knew with the kids being home for summer break it would take me three months of nap times to complete this project. They also had the skill and experience to get this done in ONE day. I was in awe.
