Since we have quite a crew to feed now, we have a pretty consistent system for budgeting for the food bill, and planning out meals for the week. I usually meal plan for a week at a time on Sundays, and order all groceries online. It always saves us time, and money because I am […]

These are all awesome tips! Shopping our pantry seriously saves us so much money!
Love these tips! We have a family of 8 as welk and are on a budget and have to be smart or we would soend all our money on food🤦🏻♀️ I have also been trying batch coonint and it’s a life saver especially when we are on the go because when we have to be some where it’s so tempting to get fast food but having extra food prepared saves so much $

says:One thing that has helped me is prepping staples for the freezer that I can then quickly turn into a meal. I like to brown ground beef and freeze in .5 lbs, 1 lbs, and 2 lbs increments (we’re a bit smaller family 😉 ) in old glass salsa jars, which means I can pop the lid off and defrost in the microwave fast – I do the same for shredded chicken too, as well portioning out 1 Tbsp of tomato paste and freezing it to toss into meals.

I love the app Plan to Eat. It’s a recipe, meal planning, and shopping app all in one (I think maybe you can upload your list to a grocery ordering site…but not sure- I just print the list and head to the store). It does take a little bit of time up front to gather and input all of your recipes, but after that it is SO nice!
One more thing I like to do- make a BIG piece of meat (Boston Butt, brisket- both can be done in the crockpot or roasting pan) and then use the meat for 2-3 meals. When all our big kids are home, two is usually as far as I can stretch anything, but now that the three oldest are off in college, things are lasting longer! Definitely love leftovers here, but repurposed of course because otherwise we have a little rebellion haha.
Anna! You inspired me to write my own list of tips. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
