I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July:) We hosted a family backyard bash this year potluck style. Everyone brought a dish, we played yard games, and lit up the sky with quite a fireworks series! It was a good option for our toddlers who are still find the noise of fireworks petrifying, and could watch from the safety of the living room windows.

I stumbled on this quote a few times yesterday and it was such a good reminder to me of what I want to strive for personally, as well as what I hope our country continues to do. There are still so many men and women sacrificing their lives for the freedoms we often take for granted.

“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same. ” – Ronald Reagan

As my little ones grow, I appreciate more and more the ability to have a place to call our own, food to feed them, the freedom to send them to the school we choose, and the freedom to worship the God we love. These are not things I ever want to take for granted. It’s been heavy on my mind that many families are going through immense pain and trial to experience the same freedoms for their children.

There is so much work to be done to find the solutions needed to help the crisis at the border, but I don’t want to be an idle observer. If you know of any organizations on the ground there providing relief and medical supplies to the men, women, and children currently detained, I would love it if you could leave the info below. I heard about this Rapid Response Fund, and would love to hear about any others.
