My mom and dad have this shoebox full of old photos that we dig out from time to time and look through. They are from a golden time. My dad always says these photos mean so much to him since they remind him of his first years as a father. These photos are only 4×6’s and I have always wanted to do something to preserve some of them in a way safer than a shoebox;) Especially because photos mean so much to my dad.

My father is one of the most incredible men I know. He raised 11 of us siblings (who really love each other!), and managed to make time for each of us. He taught us great taste in music and old movies, how to break it down during family dance parties, and the importance of loving everyone you meet. He taught me the value of faith through the way he lives his life, and taught each of us that we were made with dignity and purpose. He always had a listening ear, came to every one of my sports meets, and would bend over backwards for any one of his children. Even through difficult days, he invested so much of himself into his family….. and he still does today. I feel so grateful that my children get to learn from him now as they grow. He is also the world’s best grandfather.

I picked out a few favorite family photo gems to scan, upload, and enlarge to surprise my dad with for Father’s Day. As you may remember, I used ART.com over the holidays to find art prints for my sisters, and I love that they also offer Photos to Art. I had to get one for our own home as well. Deciding where to put it. On the photo ledge or by the front door. Which do you like better? 

I couldn’t believe the quality of this large photo that was blown up from a 4×6 in size! It looks like vintage art. There are some really good mounted art options and frames to choose from. I used the champagne and golden frames for these photos.

My dad cherishes that shoebox full of photos, so to see his reaction when I showed him this old framed family photo was really cool to see. Makes me want to do this as gifts more often. A photo can speak a thousand words. Cheers to the fathers who fight so hard each day for their families. I don’t know where I would be without the encouragement of my dad. I hope this project can give you all some ideas for the great men in your own lives!
