DIY large scale wall art.

I usually have art commitment phobia, and it takes me forever to get together a picture ledge or gallery wall. I like art in our home to have meaning so I overthink everything, and end up not being able to execute any decisions. This time around I went for a different approach by making my own large scale art. It saves a pretty penny, and also gives your art a little more significance in the process.

  1. Choose an image you have taken from travels, your city, or in my case, just from a stroll around my neighborhood! You don’t have to use a fancy camera. I think the biggest surprise for me was that this printed pretty clear even though the image was from my iphone.
  2. Open your image in a photo editing program (I used photoshop) to convert to black and white or edit contrast, brightness, or color. I set up the image horizontally and split them into two even images. Save as separate files.
  3. Print your images on wrap around canvas through a discount printing site like Easy Canvas Prints (they run up to 85% off deals). The total cost for both of your art work will still be less than buying a custom one large piece from most art print sites. These black and white images were printed in the wrap around canvas style in size 30” x 40.”

Hope this is helpful! I can’t share too much of our living room yet, but I will be posting the full tour very soon! We will be sharing how we made these picture ledge/ book shelves as well.

This is a neat idea! I’m sure it’s a great conversation starter, too. My neighbor has a picture of tomatoes on her dining room wall, and it looks perfect in her homey, old-lady-type home. I asked her about it, and it turns out that this picture if from one of her relatives, who snapped a photo of a box of homegrown tomatoes he had. I thought that was pretty neat 🙂 Also, I appreciate you talking about hanging up art, because we moved into our first house a few months ago and I haven’t been able to commit to putting nails and screws in the walls to hang up some of our artwork and family pictures.

I located one reliable example of this fact through this blog website. I am mosting likely to use such information now.

What a great idea to use DIY techniques for large-scale wall art! The personalized touch of editing photos for unique pieces makes it a fun and affordable project. It’s a fantastic way to create impactful decor on a budget. If you’re looking for more large art pieces, feel free to check out my work at PastelBrush.com.
