Valentine’s Day date night in

This week I’ve got a Valentine’s Day line up for you starting with a Valentine’s Day date night in idea that might be good to have in your back pocket in case dinner plans fail;) In our first few years of marriage, babysitters were hard to come by, so most of our Valentine’s Day dates looked a lot like this. After picking up ingredients to make dinner for two, we would wait till the kids were asleep and cook our favorite apps, dinner, and dessert. We’d follow that up with a stack of movies we would never last through, popcorn, movie candy, and all of the blankets we owned. Still my favorite way to spend the 14th if you ask me;)

As you might guess, we have become popcorn snobs over the years. Here’s a few of our favorite toppings you can test out for your own popcorn buffet next movie night…

Base: Popcorn oil (magic stuff)
Seasonings:
Cheesy – Parmesan, dill, and salt
Sweet – Cinnamon, sugar, and nutmeg
Savory – Lawry’s Seasoned salt, chili powder, and cayenne pepper
Wooden bowl
Wooden snack bowls
Serving Tray

I love “Return To Me” also! “While You Were Sleeping” with Sandra Bullock is another great one. And as a Minnesota girl I have to recommend “New in Town.”

When Harry Met Sally is my all-time favourite rom-com, and my all-time favourite film. So perfect, and resonates with me so much since my husband and I were good friends for a really long time before gettting together.

I agree with you– any Doris Day or Audrey film! I pretty much laughed out loud to all of That Touch of Mink. I also think our whirly pop was a popcorn game changer. I will have to try those suggested toppings!

Hi Anna, How do you wash your wood bowls? I love Audrey and Doris movies. My 17 year old daughter loves Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I got her to watch Sabrina with me and she now loves that movie. Do you love Doris Day’s movies with Rock Hudson? How about The Glass Bottom Boat. I love the romance in old movies. Pat S

This is a great idea! My husband and I didn’t watch many movies or shows together before we got married, but now we love to curl up on the couch sometimes and watch stuff. We don’t watch a whole lot of romantic comedies together (we’ll often watch something geeky-think superheroes-or action flicks), but I do like an occasional rom-com. Besides anything Jane Austen, I also like “Leap Year” a lot!

Here are a few favorites not mentioned: I know it’s not a classic but “Crazy, Stupid Love ” is an absolute favorite if you haven’t seen it Anna! “The Notebook”!! My hubby even shed a few tears with that one (shh), “Moonstruck” ( ah young Nicolas Cage (dreamy!), “Serendipity” (John Cusack-what a guy!) “The Proposal” (Ryan Renolds and Sandra a Bullock are fantastic together), “Definitely Maybe” (Ryan Reynols again), The Wedding Planner (Jlo and Matthew MCConaughney). “Sabrina”-old & newer versions. Last but not least…”The Princess Bride” now THAT’S a classic!
