house to home

25 square ft. to call our own

house to home

In a home of small quarters and high energy little humans, finding a quiet space to hide relax away is sometimes not in the cards. However, when I saw this emerald beauty for $15 at a flea market, it was demanding a place in our home. We moved the hanging chair out back to the yard for spring and summer use, and moved this guy in. It set the tone for a corner to curl up in, and has been used for multiple hours already.

Here’s the breakdown of the 5 square feet we manage to keep clean;)
Emerald Chair (Flea Market)
Initial Hooks
Tassel Pillows c/o
Blanket Throws c/o
Hex End Table
Big Sur Print
Picture clasps
Floor lamp c/0

I usually start and end my day here with a little reading, maybe a good mag, and maybe a good marg. (wink) It makes such a big difference to have a small space that you immediately relax in, even if the rest of the house is a mess!

I would call in sick to the office, brew a pot of coffee, get a good book and stay here all day.
(on an, admittedly, petty note – it looks like a lot more than 5 square feet. 5 feet by 5 feet is actually 25 square feet. But this does not make me want to curl up here any less)

That chair! That gorgeous, amazing, swoon-worthy emerald velvet chair!

  3. Whitney says:

I need your luck at flea markets! That chair looks perfect there.

  4. The tassels on your pillows are just fantastic! And the green velvet is divine – what a great flea market find!

  5. Nicole says:

What a wonderfully cozy looking nook! That chair is super cute! Well, the whole space is, actually. 😉

Since we had bought our home almost 4 years ago, I had been pining for such a nook in our master bedroom. Just recently, I was lucky enough to score a secondhand tufted Lane recliner for quite a steal. So now I at least have the chair, lamp, and side table. Next are the extra cozy add-ons!

And it is so true about how nice it is to have even such small square footage to be able to retreat to!

This looks so lovely and cozy. I think everyone needs a little space where they can relax for a bit.

  7. Jane Wieberg says:

Having a space just for you is a must! Loving the cozy feel of this corner.
