We decided to stay a few more years in our rental home, so I finally am taking decorating more seriously (it take me FOREVER to decide on things). The living room is almost done, and it’s definately a reflection of my modern style. Gabe has more traditional taste, and since the family room is where […]

says:Gorgeous rug! I’m actually on the look-out for something exactly like that! Too bad my husband and I are poor students living in Sweden.. 😉
I pick at least one blue pillow to bring out the blue in the rug! Love how this room looks!
we move a lot for my husband’s job, so we rent, too. what i wouldn’t give for the chance to paint the whole place a crisp white, add some fun wallpaper… but since we can’t, i find that rugs, curtains, and other textiles are definitely the best avenue for making a rental your own. mixing different patterns and textures, too, can really bring warmth to a space. can’t wait to see Phase 2! 🙂
Oooh I like it the way it is now haha! 🙂
Loving that rug!! My bf has one very similar in his apartment but the room is not nearly as beautiful as yours 🙂 Really adoring the warm feel of this room with the burgundy colors – maybe a lighter color for curtains to play off the whites in the room (i.e. chair, throw, pillows)??
All seems to be going well, I really like those traditional rugs with wooden floor. We had one when I was growing up, it was kinda naff but it did us well.
Enjoy your weekend, we should defo carry on our convo re working together.
Gorgeous rug! All that burgundy makes the room feel cozy, but I’d add some ivory to bring down the dark a little. I would find a nice light color from that rug and play it around to see the result. You’re on the way to the best living room around!
love, Marie

says:I’d add some minty green/teal accents to play off the rug. Fantastic job of your man, picking that rug! I love to mix greens with reds, throwing in blues and pinks so it doesn’t look like Christmas.
That area rug is perfect for your living room space. I love how the entire room feels cozy and I would kill for your fireplace. What you give up to live in an apartment in NYC. *sigh* Can’t wait to see the other phases. Happy Weekend! xo

This looks beautiful Anna! My dad is also more traditional and he has a very similar rug in the family room too! I am a big fan of whites and creams – with maybe a thick rope tie back (like a sailing rope seen in Restoration Hardware). Love the room 🙂
