Welcome November + Weekend Round Up

November 2, 2012

lookbook

Posted 09/12

November came to remind me that its the stable fall month with an even crisp air and no major ups and downs in weather:) We have a cool weekend ahead here in Atlanta. I can’t stop thinking about the northeast and all those affected by Hurricane Sandy. I wish I could be there to help with my own two hands, but seeing news stories and coverage about the comradery the states are showing each other is so encouraging to hear.
{Boots: old but similar here or here}
On another note, I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the first time this year. (!!!) Oh the angst and anxiety I get just thinking about it. I am no Martha, and this is serious business. Any cool recipes or tips to share? Please help a girl out!
Happy weekend friends. Love, Anna
The Craft Pack released an e-book called Hip and Handmade Holiday. Just a glance and you’ll see why its worth the download:)
Giant photo prints of old family photos. So doing this.
Amanda shared a Seasonal Sangria recipe I am pretty sure you won’t want to miss.
This would make a humorous (and possibly mean) joke on a photographer, but its pretty sweet.

Fun and clever pottery pieces in this etsy shop.

I was seeing all the instagrams of the Hip and Handmade Holiday — I need to check it out. And Amanda’s sangria looks amaaaazing.

Also, I did Thanksgiving for the first time last year and was a little freaked out like you but it was seeeeriously doable. You’ll be fine!

  2. Megan Wait says:

A guy in my office has that cup! I got such a fright when I saw it, thinking he messed up an expensive lens, but it’s really nifty.

  3. Welcome November! (and the weekend!) Wishing you a lovely one with your family 🙂 As for Thanksgiving, you’ll shine! As you mentioned in your facebook post this morning, its the small things that matter most – in entertaining, the details are what counts. From place setting names, to piping hot whipped squash (affordable & easy!) – the small things wow. And ofcourse, regardless – being amongst your family is the best! xo

  4. For thanksgiving I’m a sucker for candied sweet potatoes with candied pecans on top, and brown sugar, cream and butter whipped into the mashed yams 🙂
    Happy Weekend!

  5. Amy says:

OH do I feel you pain on thanksgiving! last year I cooked for 35 people and this year it will be close to 50!! My trip is I order a pre-cooked Turkey and Ham so I have oven space for sides. But my kitchen is WAY too small!

    xx Amy

    love your red boots!

  7. You will do FANTASTIC on Thanksgiving! If I could give you one tip: do as MUCH as possible before hand. Much of thanksgiving dinner can be made the day before and warmed in the oven. It will ease your nerves AND allow more time to enjoy your family!

also….I MUST check out that craft book!
    happy weekend, Anna!
    XO

  8. Kayla C says:

That cup is awesome! Good luck with Thanksgiving- I’m sure you’ll do great though! I like Sara’s idea of making some/most of the dinner beforehand. Seems a little more stress free, and personally I always love the stuffing and stuff the day after more than the first day! Y-U-M

  9. Sarah says:

Oh wow! You are in for a wonderful (and tiresome) treat preparing Thanksgiving dinner. My best advice is to make a menu and then write down exactly what time you need to put certain things in stove, oven, etc. Also, if there is anything you chop up or prepare for the next day, go ahead and do it ahead of time. The biggest challenge with preparing a feast is the timing.
(Oh, and if you are feeling really overwhelmed, I actually saw a recipe for cooking a turkey in a crockpot on pinterest…:)

  10. I love the photos of your boots – very creative, Anna! Good luck on the cooking I have a feeling you will do great 😉 I love love the mug joke, I think I would have froze in my steps if I saw that, it looks too real. (PS. Anything from Amanda is yummy!)

  11. Faith says:

those boots are perfection! i’m so happy to welcome November 🙂

  12. LOVE those boots!!!! Happy Fall darling!

That seasonal sangria looks to DIE for. And I have faith you’ll put on an amazing Thanksgiving 🙂 Have a lovely weekend!

  16. That lens mug is hilarious! Happy fall weekend to you!

  17. Krista says:

I have a DELICIOUS and EASY Herb and butter basted turkey breast recipe I’ll find and send you. It is wonderful but it is just the breast, not a whole turkey so I’m not sure if it will work for your needs (maybe you could do 2 breasts?). I’ll send it anyway in case you may want to use some other time.

    Happy Weekend!

  18. Shannon says:

Oh, how exciting you’ll be cooking Thanksgiving dinner. I know it’s a lot of pressure, but it’s so fun! I always have great luck w/Williams Sonoma Thanksgiving recipes. 🙂 Have a great weekend.

Atlanta during the fall is one of my favorite places on earth. I used to visit my best friend during college every year at that time, and my first year down I fell in love.

I can’t wait to see what you pull together for your Thanksgiving feast!
If you are looking for a stuffing you must try the one I made last year from Spoon Fork Bacon: http://spoonforkbacon.com/2011/11/sausage-and-sage-stuffing-with-dried-cranberries-and-toasted-hazelnuts/

It is seriously addicting, which maybe why I probably ate almost half of it … oops!

    Happy Weekend, xo!

  36. If your sofa pillows are silk or linen you must take them towards the dry cleaner
to clean them. If you are looking to furnish your family room,
you’ve no doubt wondered if it would be better to buy a traditional sofa or put money into a futon. Once you

spring system, quality cushions, along with the right cover, you will possess found your quality sofa.
